Although it is doubtful that any reasonably rapid, purely flame photometric, method can ever equal the best flame-supported gravimetric techniques in determinations of major alkali constituents, procedures were worked out whereby rubidium and cesium can be determined with improved precision, and the accuracy of sodium and potassium. A total of 15 junk foods were processed and analyzed for estimating the sodium content in them by Flame Photometry. Based on the analysis the samples were categorized into low, moderate and high sodium containing foods. The analysis helps in creating awareness among all the generations to reduce the sodium intake in order to prevent problems.
An abnormal increase of potassium (hyperkalemia) or decrease of potassium (hypokalemia) can profoundly affect the nervous system and heart, and when extreme, can be fatal.
